River levels are now dropping slowly at the Bollington Mill river gauge. While the risk to life is reduced, flooding for land and properties adjacent to the River Bollin remains possible today, Thursday 21st January. Further showers are forecast over the next 48 hours but it is not expected that river levels will rise significantly. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will update flood warnings as necessary. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation. This message will be updated tomorrow, Friday 22nd January or as the situation changes.
Severe Flood Warning issued on 21 Jan 2021 01:29
River Bollin
River levels are rising at the Bollington Mill river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall and are expected to remain high until Friday. Consequently, flooding for land and properties adjacent to the Ship Canal and River Bollin is possible. We expect river levels to peak at 1.6m between 05:00 and 06:00 on 21/01/21. A severe warning has been issued due to the potential for significant disruption to the community.

If you are asked to leave your home and need to stay with family or friends due to flooding, you will not be in breach of coronavirus laws and no legal action will be taken. If you or a family member have been asked to self-isolate due to Covid-19 Government guidance or if you are clinically extremely vulnerable, you will be contacted directly and Covid-secure accommodation will be provided. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours but it is expected that river levels will peak overnight, tonight Wednesday 20 January. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue further flood warnings if necessary. River levels have now peaked and are slowly dropping below the flood warning threshold, however river levels remain high within the River Bollin. Further rainfall is forecast for this afternoon (01/08/2019). It is possible that river levels could rise again in response to this. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid contact with flood water and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated as the situation changes.

River levels are rising slowly but steadily and are expected to remain high at the Bollington Mill river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for properties at and around Bollington Mill and Bollington Hall Farm.
