River Goyt
River levels are now falling at the Marple Bridge river gauge. Consequently, the risk of flooding has reduced. Further potentially heavy showers are forecast overnight into Thursday afternoon (01/08/2019). We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid contact with flood water and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated in the morning, 01/08/2019, or as the situation changes.

River Goyt
River levels have risen at the Marple Bridge river gauge on 31/07/19, as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for properties along the river, near the bridge and at Waters Edge.
Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next few hours. We expect river levels to continue to rise and peak between 18:00 and 18:30 at 2.1m.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue (further) flood warnings if necessary.
