The total forecast tide is 5.25 metres Chart Datum (2.52 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. Property flooding is not expected. At South Hayling, large waves will move or could remove shingle. This could cause overtopping into beach front gardens at Southwood Road, Bembridge Drive, Meath Close and The Strand. After this tide‚ the weather becomes more settled‚ so levels will reduce and no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. We are liaising with the local authority and their response teams, over the condition of the beach at South Hayling. The beach condition is currently good. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide. At South Hayling, the high water levels may move shingle from the beach. This may cause garden and road flooding at Southwood Road, Bembridge Drive, Meath Close and The Strand. However, as the beach has been recently reformed, impacts at Eastoke are expected to be minimal. The tide levels are elevated over the next 4 days. This may cause some impacts at each high water. At South Hayling, strong winds and large waves, will move and may remove shingle from the beach. This may cause garden and road flooding at Southwood Road, Bembridge Drive, Meath Close and The Strand. A series of spring tides with similar flood impacts will be seen across the weekend. The weather increases tide table values by 0.54 m. The total forecast tide is 5.37 metres Chart Datum (2.64 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. At South Hayling, shingle and debris may be thrown by strong winds and large waves. This may cause garden and road flooding at Southwood Road, Bembridge Drive, Meath Close and The Strand. At 00:47 on Thursday (03/08/2023)‚ the tide level remains elevated but will be lower than at Wednesday lunchtime. Currently it is unlikely that it will cause flooding to property‚ but we may issue further advice tomorrow (02/08/2023). We are liaising with the local authority over the condition of the beach at South Hayling. At high tide, water may be higher up the beach than normal. Sunday's early morning tide at 01:06 on 27/11/22 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with Southerly Force 5 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.25 m. The total forecast tide is 5.11 metres Chart Datum (2.38 mAOD) at Portsmouth. On Thursday, high energy waves removed a significant amount of shingle at South Hayling. At Eastoke Corner, the beach crest remains very narrow. Whilst the next tide is not overly high, large waves could remove more material from the beach. As a result, for 30 minutes either side of high water, sea front gardens and roads nearest Eastoke Corner may experience minor impact flooding. On Sunday afternoon (13:15 on 27/11/22) the tide is lower and we do not expect impacts. However, in the early hours of Monday morning (01:45 on 28/11/22), the tide level is once again a little more elevated, so we may issue further advice. We continue to monitor the forecast. Winds are strong Southerly Force 5. The weather increases tide table values by 0.13 m. The total forecast tide is 5.11 metres Chart Datum (2.38 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Property flooding is not expected. At Eastoke Corner, the beach crest remains very narrow. Overtopping into the promenade is possible in this location. At South Hayling, waves could remove shingle again. If this happens, it could cause overtopping into beach front gardens at Southwood Road, Bembridge Drive, Meath Close and The Strand. The weather increases tide table values by 0.04 m. The total forecast tide is 5.07 metres Chart Datum (2.33 mAOD) at Portsmouth. High energy waves are possible, which could deplete the shingle and force large amounts of water up the beach, overtopping splash walls and flood boards. For 2 hours either side of high water, this could flood property in Southwood Road. Beach huts at West Beach, near the Inn on the beach may also be affected. Water could reach the road at Sea Front, near the junction of St Andrew's Road. At 00:18 on Saturday (26/11/22)‚ the tide and flood impacts will be similar to this morning (25/11/22). Tuesday afternoon's tide at 14:30 on 02/02/2021 is forecast at 4.92 metres Chart Datum (2.19 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Winds are South Westerly Force 5. Flooding remains possible as the condition of the shingle beach at South Hayling was affected by very high energy waves yesterday. Although conditions should be improving, for 2 hours either side of high water, some higher energy waves may still affect the beach this afternoon. This could move and remove shingle, causing garden and road flooding along the southern frontage. We are liaising with the local authority who are clearing the promenade. They will also be working on the beach today with heavy machinery to help reduce flood risk. Some sea front car parks may be closed. Avoid South Hayling seafront today. Tuesday's early morning tide at 02:15 on 02/02/2021 is forecast at 4.93 metres Chart Datum (2.20 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Winds are Southerly Force 5. Flooding is possible as the condition of the shingle beach at South Hayling (including West Beach and Eastoke Point) has been affected by very high energy waves today. High energy waves could also occur this evening. For 3 hours either side of high water, waves could continue to remove shingle from the beach, causing garden and road flooding along the southern frontage. Conditions may be similar at high tide at 14:30 tomorrow (02/02/2021). We'll issue further advice. We are liaising with the local authority who are closing the car park at West Beach, clearing the promenade and who are currently operating the excavator on the beach to try and reform the beach crest. As waves are not large, overtopping into gardens at South Hayling is not expected. Tide levels will remain elevated until Friday 13/03/2020. The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m. The total forecast tide is 5.17 metres Chart Datum (2.44 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tide levels are not overly high but, for 1 hour either side of high water, wind and waves could move shingle at South Hayling. Minor overtopping or spray affecting beach facing gardens at Bembridge Drive, Meath Close, The Strand and Southwood Road is possible. Property flooding is not expected. At 14:15 on Thursday 13/02/2020 the tide is similar in height, and may cause similar impacts. Conditions should then improve until the weekend, when Storm Dennis may bring rough seas. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney and car parks along Sea Front Road, South Hayling will flood. At South Hayling, some overtopping may occur along the southern frontage, which may cause garden and road flooding at Southwood Road. Tide levels remain high until Thursday evening (28/11/2019), but it is unlikely that further messages will be issued. We are liaising with the local authority over beach condition at South Hayling, which remains good. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide.
