Flood Warning issued on 9 Feb 2020 18:55
River Eden
River levels are forecast to continue to rise at the Linstock river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall over the Pennines and the Upper Eden peaking at Appleby earlier this afternoon now resulting in high levels downstream for Low Crosby and Carlisle areas. Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is expected to begin between 19:30 and 20:00 today, Sunday 09/02/2020. Farms and residential properties in the Warwick Holmes area are considered most at risk. Flood water could be deep and fast flowing, and therefore pose a risk to life.
Showers are forecast overnight and we expect river levels to remain high until tomorrow morning. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services.
This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
