The Flood Alert remains in force. River levels have now peaked between Smarden and Staplehurst but will continue to rise overnight between Stilebridge and Yalding. Flooding of low lying land in this area is possible overnight, into Wednesday 2 May. Flooding of property is not expected. Further rain is forecast on Wednesday morning but this is not expected to lead to a worsening of conditions. We will update this message by 0930 on Wednesday 2 May.

River levels at Smarden peaked at around 2am on Tuesday morning, and are expected to peak at Stilebridge at around 2pm on Tuesday afternoon. River levels remain high throughout the catchment, and ground conditions are very wet following rainfall on Monday. Ongoing flooding of low lying land and roads is expected, but flooding of properties from the river is not expected. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as the situation develops.

River levels in the River Beult will continue to rise overnight following heavy rain during Monday 30 April. Flooding of low lying roads and land is likely. No further rain is forecast for overnight or Tuesday 1 May. We do not expect flooding of property from the river at this stage but will review the situation regularly and update this message if the situation changes.

River levels will remain high on the Beult today, Saturday 31st March 2018, after heavy rainfall seen in the area yesterday. River levels have peaked in Smarden and will peak this evening at Stile Bridge, before falling throughout tonight and into tomorrow morning. Sunday 1st April 2018 will be a reasonably dry day allowing river levels to continue to fall, however heavy rainfall is forecast for Monday 2nd April 2018 which could cause river levels to rise once more. We will continue to monitor river levels and will update this message on Sunday morning, or sooner if conditions change.

Sustained rain through the week and heavy rain today has caused levels in the River Beult to rise. Low lying land and fields are expected to see some flooding through today. Levels peaked in Smarden last night and are slowly rising at Stilebridge, they will continue to rise in Yalding through Saturday before falling away overnight Saturday 31st March into Sunday 1st April. No property flooding is anticipated. Occasional showers are forecast through the night and these have been taken into account in issuing this alert. Saturday is forecast to be much drier. Some showers are expected Sunday. We are monitoring the river and weather conditions for the week ahead. Monday is forecast to be as wet as Good Friday.

Sustained rain through the week and heavy rain today has caused levels in the River Beult to rise. Low lying land and fields are expected to see some flooding through the night and into the morning. It is anticipated that the levels will peak in Smarden around midnight tonight, Friday 30th March, and in Yalding through Saturday before falling away overnight Saturday 31st March into Sunday 1st April. No property flooding is anticipated. Occasional showers are forecast through the night and these have been taken into account in issuing this alert. Saturday is forecast to be much drier. Some showers are expected on Sunday. We are monitoring the river and weather conditions for the week ahead.
