This flood alert remains in force for the River Foss due to heavy rain associated with Storm Ciara. River levels are rising and are likely to remain high throughout Monday 10/02/2020. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. We are monitoring the situation closely. The Area Incident Room is open, and operational staff have been out clearing trash screens. We will update this message in 8 hours or as the situation changes.

This flood alert has been issued for the River Foss due to heavy rain associated with Storm Ciara. There has been widespread heavy rain accompanied by high winds throughout Sunday 09/02/2020. River levels have risen and are likely to remain high overnight. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. We are monitoring the situation closely. The Area Incident Room is open, and operational staff have been out clearing trash screens. We will update this message in 8 hours or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen, as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland remains possible during Sunday 27.10.19. We expect river levels to begin to fall during Sunday morning. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and the Foss Barrier is in operation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 10am on 27/10/2019, or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen, as a result of heavy rainfall overnight and this morning. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads. The Foss Barrier is in operation. No further significant rainfall is forecast for the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and closely monitoring the forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated as the situation changes.

River levels have risen, as a result of heavy rainfall overnight and this morning. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from later this morning 26/10/2019. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads. Further rainfall is forecast this morning and clearing in the afternoon. We expect river levels to rise until later in the afternoon. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and closely monitoring the forecast. The Foss Barrier is expected to be in operation from approximately 13:30 on Saturday 26/10/2019. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 18:00 on 26/10/2019, or as the situation changes.

This flood alert remains in force due to high levels on the River Foss following recent rainfall. Levels are continuing to rise slowly through the catchment, and are expected to peak later on Tuesday morning. No further significant rainfall is expected. The Foss Barrier is currently not in use, but it is anticipated to be in use later on Tuesday morning. The latest levels can be found on the gov.uk website. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will update this message as the situation changes.

This alert has been issued in response to rainfall during Monday 2nd April. Rainfall upstream in the catchment is causing levels to rise as water makes its way downstream. The level at Huntington is rising, and is expected to reach around 2.5m overnight. The Foss Barrier is not currently in use as the levels in the River Ouse are not high enough to require its use, however screens are being cleared in the area. The latest levels can be found on the gov.uk website. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will update this message as the situation changes.

This flood alert has been issued in response to rising river levels on the River Foss in the Huntington area due to persistent rain throughout the day. River levels are currently at 2.2m and forecast to peak at around 2.3m at 10pm on Monday 12th March 2018. Please stay aware of your surroundings and do not put yourself at risk.
