River levels in the River Aire between Bingley and Castleford have peaked and are forecast to fall gradually during the rest of today. Flooding is not expected. Following today's snow and rainfall, river levels are currently rising. Levels are expected to peak at Castleford overnight tonight. Allerton Spillway has started to operate an is forecast to continue operating until this afternoon. As a result, Allerton Ings has started to fill and Barnsdale Road is currently expected to flood. The river level is also expected to peak at Cottingley Bridge upstream of Leeds at approximately 02:00 this morning. Our incident room is open and we are closely monitoring the situation. Following today's snow and rainfall, river levels are currently rising. Levels are expected to peak at Castleford overnight tonight and Allerton Spillway is also forecast to operate at approximately 02:00 this morning, 3rd April 2018. As a result of the current forecast, Barnsdale Road could be affected. The river Level is also expected to peak at Cottingley Bridge at approximately 02:00 this morning. River levels are continuing to slowly fall however the washlands still contain water. Please remain aware of your surroundings. Scattered wintery showers are forecast to continue throughout Friday night and into Saturday morning although there are no significant rainfall totals expected during this period. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this Flood Alert if the situation changes

Although river levels are now falling this Flood Alert is still in force as the washlands are still active and contain water. Please remain aware of your surroundings. Scattered wintery showers will occur throughout Friday although there are no significant rainfall totals expected during this period. River levels are falling although there is still water within the Washlands that has not returned back into the rivers. This Flood Alert is still in force as the Washlands will still be active and contain water so please be aware. Scattered wintery showers will occur through Thursday night and Friday although there are no significant rainfall totals expected during this period. River levels have peaked and are now beginning to gradually fall. The Flood Alert remains in force as the River Aire is still high and the Washlands will still be active and contain water so please be aware. River levels have risen in response to the overnight wet weather. Higher rainfall totals than anticipated have fallen in the early hours of Thursday morning and caused rivers to rise to Flood Alert levels. The weather outlook is improving although scattered showers may still occur throughout Thursday. It is expected that rivers will peak at midday before they begin to fall. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as the situation changes.

The flood alert for the Middle Aire will remain in force overnight. Although river levels are now falling, further rain is expected through the night, some of it heavy in places. Our latest forecasts show that although rivers will rise again tomorrow morning, they are not expected to reach the levels of Saturday 21 October.
