An updated SEVERE FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Logie Mill and Craigo. There is a danger to life. If you are in an affected area and are in danger and need assistance, call emergency responders. Logie Mill and Craigo experienced extensive flooding today, Friday, with levels on the North Esk reaching the highest on record. River levels on the North Esk are dropping on Friday evening. However, further rainfall is expected overnight Friday and Saturday. Another red weather warning for rain is in place by the Met Office. We expect the River North Esk to rise again from Saturday morning. Current forecasts indicate that it may peak Saturday afternoon at lower levels than the peak today, Friday. The ground is very saturated, and the river may respond more quickly. The properties in and around the Logie Mill area will remain at risk on Saturday. Angus Council is operating rest centres at Montrose Sports Centre, Forfar Community Centre and Brechin Community Campus. Please bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and any medication you need. Pets are welcome at the rest centres. Further information is available at the Angus Council website. An updated SEVERE FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Logie Mill and Craigo. There is a danger to life. If you are in an affected area and are in danger and need assistance, call emergency responders. Extensive flooding of properties around the Logie Mill area is now expected. Due to rainfall caused by Storm Babet, river levels on the North Esk will rise throughout Thursday night and into Friday morning. The North Esk is predicted to peak in the early hours of Friday. River levels are expected to be similar to or exceed November 2022, the highest on record. Take action now. Stay away from flood water and do not take unnecessary risks. Please follow the advice of the emergency services and first responders on the ground. Angus Council is operating a rest centre at Montrose Centre and at Forfar community centre. A FLOOD WARNING update has been issued for Logie Mill and Craigo. River levels in this area have fallen back overnight from the high levels seen on Friday. However, rivers in this area remain swollen with saturated ground conditions. A further period of rain is forecast to affect this area overnight from Saturday into Sunday and it is expected that river levels will rise again but not as high as seen on Friday. Therefore, further surface water issues and potential inundation of land close to watercourses can be expected on Sunday. A second peak is moving through the river system and levels are starting to rise again. Although not forecast to be as high as todays earlier peak water levels will stay very high throughout the night and into Saturday. Stay away from flood water and do not take unnecessary risks. Rainfall is expected to continue and water levels will rise through the day. The river may overtop embankments in Lay of Craigo. Flooding of low-lying areas is now possible.
