Areas most at risk include the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Portishead Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock. Consider activating any property flood protection products. Flooding is possible two hours each side of the high tide at 10 PM tonight. The tidal forecast peak level at Avonmouth is 7.93 mAODN at 10 PM tonight, Friday 20/09/2024, with north-easterly force 5 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.) Tidal conditions are expected to improve after this high tide and further flooding is not expected. We are closely monitoring the situation and closing flood gates. Consequently, waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Portishead Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of this time. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next 3 days and as a result we may issue further alerts/warnings. The first forecast high water is 21:30 on 12/03/20 with a level of 8.23 mAOD and a Force 7 Westerly wind. This forecast level is lower than the peak tide on Wednesday evening. The second forecast high water is 09:45 on 13/03/20 with a level of 7.93 mAOD and a Force 4 West South Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Avonmouth, and mAOD is the height above average sea level. There is the possibility of flooding to vulnerable seafront properties for the coast between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Woodlands Road, Portishead Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock. Properties at risk include the sewage works and electricity sub stations near Portbury Dock. We have operational gangs on the ground to monitor the tides and any impacts.

Though the immediate impact of the recent strong winds and spring tides steadily reduces a flood risk remains for high water on Thursday 13/02/20. High tide is 10:00 on Thursday 13/02/20 with a level of 8.01m AOD and a Force 5 West South Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water at Avonmouth. Flooding may occur around an hour either side of this time along the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Woodlands Road, Portishead Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock. Exposed sea front properties may be affected as local wind strengths and direction may be very changeable. With Storm Dennis due to arrive on Saturday 15/02/20 our incident response staff are monitoring coastal conditions closely. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued. First high tide is 21:15 on Tuesday 11/02/20 with a level of 8.0m AOD and a Force 6 Westerly wind. Second high tide is 09:30 on Wednesday 12/02/20 with a level of 7.96m AOD and a Force 4 Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Avonmouth. Spray overtopping of sea defences is possible around one to two hours either side of these times. Flooding may affect the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Woodlands Road, Portishead, Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock.
