Flooding of low lying land and roads is possible over Sunday evening’s high tide due to spring tides and forecast strong wind and waves. Exposed coastal areas are particularly at risk. High water at Newlyn is at 7:27pm on Sunday evening, times of high water vary along the coast, flooding is possible up to 1 hour either side of high tide. Following some minor flood impacts over Sunday morning’s high tide, tide levels are lower, and weather conditions are expected to ease by Sunday evening’s high tide. However, flooding to low lying land and roads is still possible, and a flood alert remains in force. From Monday no further flooding is forecast. Do not walk or drive through flood water or waves. Consider installing flood protection products. We are monitoring the situation and will update this information by 11am on Monday morning or if the situation changes. Detailed tidal information; Forecast high tide level at Newlyn is 2.88m AOD.  Expect tide levels to be 0.2 to 0.3m above tide table level, with force 6 westerly winds and offshore wave heights of up to 4.6m.

Flooding is expected over the high tide on Sunday morning due to high spring tides and forecast strong wind and waves. High water at Newlyn is at 7:04am on Sunday morning, times of high water vary along the coast, flooding is possible up to 1 hour either side of high tide. Exposed coastal communities are particularly at risk over Sunday morning’s tide due to forecast wind and wave conditions. Flooding to low lying coastal land and roads is also possible on Saturday evening, conditions will ease for Sunday evening’s tide, however minor flooding is still possible. A flood alert remains in force over the weekend. Do not walk or drive through flood water or waves. Consider installing flood protection products such as flood boards or sandbags. We are monitoring the situation and will update this information by 11am on Sunday morning or if the situation changes. Detailed tidal information; Forecast high tide level at Falmouth is 3.1 mAOD. Expect tide levels to be 0.3 to 0.4m above tide table level, with force 7 South Westerly winds and offshore wave heights of up to 3.9m.

High water at Newlyn is at 17:30 on Monday evening and 05:50 on Tuesday morning, times of high water will vary along the coast. Force 7 southerly winds rapidly switching to northerly over Monday evening’s high tide. Force 8 north westerly winds are expected over Tuesday morning’s high tide. Wave heights of up to 5m are forecast with flooding to properties possible two hours either side of high tide. Expect tides to be up to 550mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions. Large waves, spray and standing water are likely, so take care near the coast. Do not drive through flood water. Locations particularly at risk include Mousehole, Praa Sands and Porthleven. Expect tides to be around 400mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions. Large waves, spray and standing water are likely, so take care near the coast. Do not drive through flood water or waves. High spring tides coinciding with low pressure and moderate north-westerly winds on Monday morning could result in dangerous conditions on the coast, with overtopping of low-lying land and quaysides expected and property flooding possible within 1-2 hours either side of high tide. Times of high water will vary along the coast.  A significant high spring tide is expected due to a low-pressure weather system and will be accompanied by Force 6 southerly winds and wave heights of around 2.4m on Tuesday morning. The tide height is expected to be similar to Monday mornings tide and could result in significant overtopping of low-lying land and quaysides within 1-2 hours either side of high tide. Expect tides to be around 280mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions. Times of high water will vary along the coast.   A significant tidal surge is expected due to low pressure, and will be accompanied by Force 6 southerly winds and wave heights up to 3.6m on Saturday morning. This could result in dangerous conditions on the coast with overtopping of low-lying land and quaysides expected and property flooding possible within 1-2 hours either side of high tide. Expect tides to be around 500mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions. Large waves and spray are likely so take care near coastal paths and promenades. Peak spring tides from the weekend have passed, however the risk of coastal flooding increases again from Wednesday. Storm Ciaran is set to bring strong winds, significant waves and a tidal surge leading to an increased risk of coastal flooding. Key tides of concern are on Wednesday evening, 1st Nov at 18:42 and Thursday morning, 2nd Nov at 07:00. The times given are for Newlyn and will vary along the coast. Possibly significant wind and wave overtopping could result in dangerous conditions on the coastline with the potential for fast flowing water. Take care near the coastline and do not drive through waves or flood water.  Please continue to monitor your local weather conditions and take care in the areas of concern. Tide levels this evening are not expected to be as high as those seen over the weekend. From Wednesday however, conditions at the coast are expected to deteriorate due to strong winds and large waves associated with Storm Ciaran. Unsettled weather is forecast and will bring force 8 west north westerly winds, Due to the forecast weather conditions the tides could be 200mm higher than published, resulting in wave overtopping and sea spray in exposed locations. Locations particularly at risk include Mousehole, Praa Sands and Porthleven. People are advised to avoid low lying and exposed coastal areas. Following this evening’s high water, tide levels will drop over the next few days. However, weather will remain unsettled with large waves and strong winds expected.
