Historical Flood Warnings for this Area
Flood Warning issued on 29 Oct 2023 11:13
English Channel
Flooding is expected for Mounts Bay over the high tide on Sunday evening 29 October.
High spring tides and a large tidal surge will result in significantly high water levels over the high tide period. Levels are forecast to be similar to those last evening when flooding was observed in several locations. Offshore wave heights up to 5m combined with Force 6 – 7 winds may exacerbate any flooding.
The high tide at Newlyn is at 16:49 local time. Times of high water will vary along the coast. Flooding may occur up to 2 hours either side of the high tides. Expect tides to be around 600mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions.
Moderate waves and spray are likely so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on roads. Do not drive through flood water or waves.
Locations particularly at risk include parts of Marazion Marsh and Long Green.
Coastal conditions should ease for Monday morning’s high tide, however we are continuing to monitor the situation. Please check online for any updates to this message
