River levels are forecast to rise on the River Eden due to heavy rainfall, peaking at 5:00 AM on Monday 22/12024. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Eden, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Warwick Park, Holme Eden Gardens, the A69 and Down A Gate Community Centre areas. No further rainfall is forecast tonight. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. River levels are forecast to rise at the Great Corby river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall on the Pennines and the upper River Eden at Appleby only peaking at a high level in the last few hours. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains to properties at Warwick Park, Holme Eden Gardens, the A69 and Down A Gate Community Centre areas. Further showers are forecast this evening and overnight with the bulk of the heavy rain clearing to the east. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.
