River Derwent
Rising river levels are expected to cause flooding this morning. Flooding is expected on 15 December 2025 from 04:30. Locations most affected will be low lying roads, agricultural land, commercial and residential properties near to the river Derwent including Glenfield Place, Meadow Edge, Workington Hall Mill, Hall Brow and Curwen Park. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels . Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 15 December 2025 or as the situation changes.

Whilst river levels have peaked and rainfall has eased, river levels remain high on the River Derwent due to recent heavy rainfall. Areas that continue to be at risk include residential and commercial properties at Seaton Mill, Barepot, Hall Park, Hall Park View, Workington Police Station, Leisure Centre, Bowling Green and Cricket Club. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Avoid using low lying roads and footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. We will continue to monitor the forecast and update this message by 5:00 PM today 29/10/2021.

River levels are high and forecast to rise further on the River Derwent due to heavy rainfall. Areas most at risk include residential and commercial properties at Seaton Mill, Barepot, Hall Park, Hall Park View, Workington Police Station, Leisure Centre, Bowling Green and Cricket Club. Flooding is possible from 11:30 AM on 28/10/2021. Further rainfall is forecast this morning but river levels are expected to start to fall slowly from early this afternoon.
