Areas most at risk include Rivers Kent and Bela and other watercourses, from Kentmere to Silverdale including low lying areas around Staveley, Burneside, Kendal, Milnthorpe and Beetham. As a result of rainfall and forecasted rainfall, river levels will continue to rise through this afternoon, evening and overnight. We are in the area checking debris screens to ensure watercourses remain clear. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible from the early hours of Thursday morning (16/03/23), continuing throughout the day. It is possible that some flood warning thresholds could be reached. Rainfall amounts are expected to be less on Friday (17/03/23) which should allow river levels to recede.
