Following heavy rainfall overnight on Tuesday into Wednesday morning river levels remain high. Flooding of low lying land and roads may be possible as a result. Further showers are forecast through Wednesday and Thursday, however rainfall totals are minimal. We do not expect river levels to reach Flood Warning thresholds. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will update this message in due course.

The weather overnight Tuesday will be fairly unsettled with some potentially heavy rain and strong winds. Combined with this forecast for heavy rainfall, snowmelt is an additional factor in causing river levels to rise above the Flood alert threshold and flooding to low lying land and roads is possible. Further showers are expected throughout the day on Wednesday and we are continuing to monitor the situation and will update if the situation changes.

There have been several hours of heavy rain overnight in the river Kent area. This has meant that the rivers have risen quickly and have reached flood alert level. There is likely to be flooding to low lying land and roads in this area through the morning of Thursday 7th December. We expect the river levels to peak during the morning of Thursday 7th December - no flooding to properties is anticipated and at this stage we do not expect to issue warnings. The rain is forecast to clear through Thursday morning. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are constantly monitoring river levels and our staff have checked the area for, and cleared blockages in this location. This message will be updated on Thursday afternoon or earlier if the situation changes.

Following recent rainfall, river levels have peaked and are now falling however they still remain high. The weather should be mainly dry during the rest of today and will turn colder however we may experience some showers. We do not expect this rainfall to affect river levels.

River levels have risen in response to the heavy and persistent rain experienced across the County. We will continue to receive showers with some heavy pulses during this evening until approximately 4 am tomorrow morning. The weather will then be mainly dry for the forthcoming days. A number of flood warnings have been issued throughout this catchment however we do not anticipate any further warnings being required at this time. Staff have been on the ground operating and checking assets. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update this message when the situation changes.

Heavy and persistent rain is expected across parts of northern England on Wednesday before gradually easing during Wednesday night. Many places will see 25 to 50 mm of rain, with around 100 mm possible over higher ground. Heavy rain will gradually clear eastwards during Wednesday night. There remains some uncertainty with regards to the exact location of the heaviest rain. Heavy rain will be accompanied by strong winds across many parts of the County. Rivers in Cumbria are currently very responsive to rainfall and river levels have risen as a result of rainfall last night. Levels have risen slightly through today, but will rise again this evening as further rain falls ahead of the main front tomorrow. River response expected from tomorrow morning with main impacts expected tomorrow afternoon and into the evening.

Over the last 12 hours we have seen heavy and persistent rainfall throughout Cumbria. This has meant that river and lake levels are now rising. The rainfall is forecast to continue through today (Wednesday 11th October 2017) into the early afternoon. This Flood Alert remains in force as river and lake levels continue to rise and levels suggest that there may be localised flooding to low lying land and roads. Following persistent rainfall on Saturday morning river levels have responded. The rainfall is expected to continue for the next hour which may lead to river levels continuing to rise. Persistent, heavy rainfall is forecast this evening Tuesday 12th September and will continue overnight into Wednesday morning. Rivers and lakes will react to the rain and are forecast to rise throughout the night. River levels will be at their highest between 03:00 and 06:00 on Wednesday morning. Remain safe, monitor your local weather conditions and be aware of your local surroundings. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout and this message will be updated as the situation changes.

Bursts of showery rain will continue across Cumbria, including South and West Lakes and the Cumbrian Pennines this afternoon. Towards 5pm, a band of rain will return northwards, bringing constant, often heavy rain throughout the night and until about mid-morning Tuesday. Rain will then continue most of Tuesday, but will become increasingly intermittent and less heavy. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message should the situation change.
