River levels have now peaked and will start to recede during today, the Flood Warning is no longer in force for Appleby and Bolton and all floodgates in Appleby have now been opened.
Whilst river levels remain high, we advise you avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible, areas most at risk include River Eden and other watercourses, from Kirkby Stephen to Temple Sowerby including low lying areas around Brough, Warcop, Great Ormside and Appleby.
As a result of rainfall and forecasted rainfall, river levels will continue to rise through this afternoon, evening and overnight.
We will be operating the flood defences at Appleby as a contingency measure and will monitor river levels this evening as further rainfall is forecast. Whilst we are uncertain of the exact impacts of the rainfall, it is likely the river Eden will spill onto the road along The Sands. We are keeping the Appleby Emergency Response Group updated with forecasts and if necessary, will issue a Flood Warning and further information this evening.
We advise that you monitor local water levels and weather conditions. If you have a flood plan, make preparations, and avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
