English Channel, South Devon Coast
Flooding is expected for the East Devon coast between Exmouth and Seaton over the high tide on Wednesday morning. High water at Exmouth is at 7:45am, times of high water will vary along the coast.
Gale force 7 Southerly winds and offshore wave heights of 2.7m are forecast to cause flooding to vulnerable properties at high tide. However conditions may apply two hours either side of the high tide. Expect tides to be around 570mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions.
Large waves and spray are likely so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on coastal roads. Do not drive through flood water or waves.
Coastal conditions should ease for the afternoon’s high tide, however we are continuing to monitor the situation and will issue updates if the situation changes.
Detailed tidal information for those who use it; The forecast high tide level is 2.74 mAOD at Exmouth, this is 0.57 metres above astronomical tide level.
Flood Warning issued on 9 Nov 2018 15:50
English Channel, South Devon Coast
Flooding is expected from Exmouth to Seaton over the high tide this evening, Friday 9th November.
High water at Exmouth is at 19:45, times of High Water will vary along the coast. Strong south south west winds up to Force 8 and wave heights of 3.2m are forecast which may cause wave overtopping of sea defences. Expect tides to be up to 530mm higher than predicted on tide tables.
People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast.
Environment Agency staff will continue to monitor tide levels, and issue updates as required.
Detailed tide information for those who use it: The forecast high tide level is 2.67 m AOD, this is 530mm above astronomical tide level. Wind speeds peak at south south west Force 8.
