South Devon Coast
Flooding is expected for the Dart Estuary over the high tide on Wednesday morning. High water at Dartmouth is at 7am, times of high water will vary along the coast. Gale force 8 Southerly winds and offshore wave heights of 4.8m are forecast to cause flooding to vulnerable properties at high tide. However conditions may apply two hours either side of the high tide. Expect tides to be around 480mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions. Large waves and spray are likely so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on coastal roads. Do not drive through flood water or waves. Coastal conditions should ease for the afternoon’s high tide, however we are continuing to monitor the situation and will issue updates if the situation changes. Detailed tidal information for those who use it; The forecast high tide level is 3.01 mAOD at Plymouth, this is 0.48 metres above astronomical tide level.

South Devon Coast
Flooding is expected over the high tide on Thursday evening, 20th August. High spring tides, strong winds and large waves are expected to cause flooding on Thursday evening. Communities at risk include Bayards Cove, Kingswear, Dittisham, Tuckenhay, Bow, Stoke Gabriel, and Galmpton. High water at Plymouth is 19:45 on Thursday evening. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide. Times of high water will vary along the coast. Storm Ellen is forecast to bring force 6 to 8 south to south westerly winds and large waves which are expected to cause wave overtopping and sea spray in exposed locations. Avoid low lying and exposed coastal areas. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update this information if the situation changes. Detailed tidal information for those who use it, the forecast high tide level at Plymouth is 3.00 mAOD. This is 0.41 metres above the astronomical tide level.
