English Channel, South Devon Coast
High tides, strong winds and large waves are expected to cause flooding this evening. Flooding is expected from 07:30PM to 11:30PM on Friday. Significant wave overtopping is likely due to large waves and strong winds. Areas particularly at risk include Torbay Road and Kernou Road. The high tide at Teignmouth on Friday is at 09:30PM, times of high water will vary along the coast. Forecast total high tide level is 2.49mAOD, which is 0.83 metres above tide table level. Gale force 8 southeasterly winds and offshore wave heights of over 3.8m are forecast over the high tide. Coastal conditions should ease after Saturday morning's high tide. We are closely monitoring the situation . Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded . This message will be updated by 3:30PM on 24 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
