River Axe
Flooding is expected overnight on Boxing Day. Heavy rain has been falling in the area and more is likely in the early hours of Wednesday morning. This is causing the River Axe to rise and the river is forecast to remain high through the night. Properties and low lying areas around Whitford Road between Whitford and Musbury, the A3052 at Colyford, the A35 at Yarty Bridge, Seaton Marshes, and farms and other isolated properties between Axminster and Axmouth, will start to flood first. Further flooding is possible around 3am as river levels rise after a second band of rain. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the night and this message will be updated as the situation changes.
