Strong winds and spring tides may cause large waves and spray overtopping on the coast this evening. Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem. Flooding is expected at The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem from 7:30 PM on 28/03/2024. Weather conditions are expected to produce large onshore waves. After this tide‚ the weather is more settled and no further impacts are expected. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the expected large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. This message will be updated by 5:00 PM on 29/03/2024, or as the situation changes.

Strong winds and spring tides may cause large waves and spray overtopping on the coast this morning. Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast windy weather conditions during the next two Spring tides. Areas most at risk include The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem. Flooding is affecting The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem from 9:00 AM on 28/03/2024. The next high tide is expected to be higher than normal and may result in us issuing a further warning. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the expected large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. This message will be updated by 5:00 PM on 29/03/2024, or as the situation changes.

Strong easterly winds are causing large waves to break over the harbour wall. These conditions will continue until late morning. The public are advised to stay well clear of the seafront area due to the danger of being swept away by large waves. Some property flooding is possible in the High Street area. Environment Agency staff are monitoring conditions on site and this message will be updated should the situation deteriorate.

Large and powerful waves are expected as a result of high tides and strong winds from Storm Alex. Forecast high water is 22:00 on 02/10/2020 with a level of 0.81 mAOD and a Force 5 Northerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Bournemouth, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Flooding to roads and properties is possible at these times, however conditions may last two to four hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem. Low pressure can cause sea levels to be higher than forecast in tide tables. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads as large waves could be dangerous.
