Large and powerful waves are expected as a result of high tides and strong winds from Storm Alex. Forecast high water is 22:00 on 02/10/2020 with a level of 0.81 mAOD and a Force 5 Northerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Bournemouth, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Flooding to roads and properties is possible at these times, however conditions may last two to four hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem. Low pressure can cause sea levels to be higher than forecast in tide tables. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads as large waves could be dangerous. This message will be updated tomorrow, 03/10/2020, or as the situation changes.

Forecast high water is 09:15 on 02/10/2020 with a level of 1.08 mAOD and a Force 8 South East South wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Bournemouth, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Flooding to roads and properties is possible at these times, however conditions may last two hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are The High Street, The Square, The Parade and The Mowlem Strong onshore winds will cause tide levels to rise further. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads as large waves could be dangerous. This message will be updated tomorrow, 02/10/2020, or as the situation changes.


Flood Warning issued on 9 Nov 2018 11:21

The following Flood Warnings will remain in force for two hours following the times of high tide. Flooding may already be affecting properties, low lying areas and roads. The time and date of the forecast high water for which this Flood Warning is in force is 9:45 pm on Friday 9th November. The forecast wind direction is southerly, force 8 – gusting force 9. Large sand bags have been placed as a temporary defence against storm waves expected during the current period of high tides. The public are advised to stay behind these defences as there is a significant risk of people being swept away.

There is some uncertainty in the forecast and as a precautionary measure temporary flood defences will be deployed at The Square and by the stone pier at Swanage. The barriers are due to be removed on 05/03/2018. The time and date of the forecast high waters for which this Flood Warning is in force are: 10:45pm on 04/03/2018. The forecast wind direction and speed is South Southwesterly Force 4.

There is some uncertainty in the forecast and as a precautionary measure temporary flood defences will be deployed at The Square and by the stone pier at Swanage. The time and date of the forecast high waters for which this Flood Warning is in force are: 10:15pm on 03/03/2018, 10:15 am on 04/03/2018 and 10:45 pm on 04/03/2018. The forecast wind direction is South Southeasterly, changing to South Southwesterly. The forecast wind strengths is Force 5.

The following flood warning will remain in force two hours either side of the following high tides: 05/01/2018 at 11.45 pm, 06/01/2018 at 11.45 am, 07/01/2018 at 04:15 am, 07/01/2018 at 4.30 pm and 08/01/2018 at 5.15 am. Strong North Easterly winds may cause overtopping of the sea wall potentially flooding roads and depositing shingle. People are advised to stay aware from risk areas and take care near to the coast.
