River levels have risen rapidly as a result of intense heavy rainfall due to thunderstorm activity. Consequently, flooding of property is imminent. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Victoria Ave, Kings Rd, Chestnut Mew, Church Hill, Springfield Rd, Cornwall Rd, Commerical Rd, Station Rd, Institute Rd, The Square, Shore Rd, High St and Parade in Swanage. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please can owners with property flood resilience equipment install it now. There is no further heavy rainfall forecast at this point. This message will be updated on Monday morning, or as the situation changes.

River levels are high and are still rising in the Swan Brook at the river gauge as a result of saturated ground and heavy rainfall overnight. Further light rainfall is forecast on Saturday morning which will sustain the current high river levels thoughout the weekend. High groundwater levels are adding to river levels; consequently, there is a risk of flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and see the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast.
