This Flood Warning has been issued due to the high spring tides and strong winds.
The forecast high water is between 05:00 AM and 08:00 AM on the 7th April 2024, with a total water level of 5.58 mAOD for West Bay and a Force 7 south-westerly wind. All times are local and for more detail please refer to your local tide tables.
Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at properties along and behind the Esplanade, Quayside, Heron Court, Forty Foot Way, Driftwood, Fourviews, Britbank, Barwick, Sunset, Riverside, George Hotel, Colmer Lodge and the Parkdean Holiday Park. Localised standing water may affect the roads between the Parkdean Holiday Park and West Bay Road.
Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected but the main concern is around large waves and debris and stones causing damage.
Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the expected large waves and sea spray will be dangerous.

Strong winds and spring tides may cause large waves and spray overtopping on the coast this evening.
Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at properties along and behind the Esplanade, Quayside, Heron Court, Forty Foot Way, Driftwood, Fourviews, Britbank, Barwick, Sunset, Riverside, George Hotel, Colmer Lodge and the Parkdean Holiday Park. Localised standing water may affect the roads between the Parkdean Holiday Park and West Bay Road.

The West Bay area will be affected by the bad weather tonight from Storm Isha. Very strong winds and large waves could overtop sea defences with sea spray and the tidal surge will help to increase the water levels.
The forecast high water is between 00:30 AM and 04:00 AM on the 22nd January with a total water level of 6.2m AOD for West Bay and a Force 9 south westerley wind. All times are local and for more detail please refer to your local tide tables.
Flooding to roads and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We expect properties situated behind the Esplanade, Quayside, Heron Court, Forty Foot Way, Driftwood, Fourviews, Britbank, Barwick, Sunset, Riverside, George Hotel, Colmer Lodge and the Parkdean Holiday Park to be affected.

A flood warning has been issued. The Wednesday evening's tide is now forecast to be higher than usual and could reach a total water level of 5.5m due to large waves. Areas most at risk include West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit. Flooding is possible at West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit between 06:00 PM and 07:00 PM on 23/11/2022. Weather conditions are expected to produce large offshore waves. Storm Eunice is bringing severe gale force winds, large waves and spray overtopping on the Dorset coast early Friday and into Saturday, coinciding with low spring tides. We are expecting this to cause very large and powerful waves along the coast.
Areas most at risk include Esplanade, all harbourside properties and East Beach in West Bay.
The forecast high water for West Bay is at 07:36 AM on 18/02/2022 with a level of 2.39 mAODN with south-westerly force 8 winds and waves of 2.9 metres. (mAODN is height above average sea level)
Storm Eunice is forecast to produce a large offshore tidal surge which will increase water levels for one to two hours either side of high water.
We have closed flood gates in West Bay Harbour. We are working with emergency services and local authorities and are closely monitoring the situation.

Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the weather conditions.
Areas most at risk include the inner harbour, East Beach and the esplanade on East Beach.
Our incident response staff are in the area and will be checking local defences.
Avoid going near cliffs as the risk of cliff falls is considerably raised during storm conditions.

The wind strength is Force 5 from the south west. Flooding to roads and farmland is expected and may apply two to four hours either side of the high tides. There is the possibility of flooding of West Bay Harbour and a tidal stretch of the River Brit. We are closely monitoring the situation.
