The Flood Warnings for the Lower Stour in Dorset have been removed but a Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area. The forecast is dry today and maybe a shower tomorrow Sunday. The Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area and the flooding of roads and low lying land may still be possible. The river levels in the Wimborne area have peaked and are slowly starting to fall. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. Plan driving routes to avoid minor roads which are close to the river as they might still be affected by flooding. The Flood Warning has now been removed. However, a Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding of roads and low lying land is still possible. The river level at Wimborne is still rising slowly, but we are confident that there will be no property flooding on the Lower River Stour The forecast is dry until Sunday 24/10/2021 when further rainfall is expected. Levels in the Lower Stour are now responding to heavy rainfall that fell at the end of last week, which has been added to by last night's input from local streams including the Moors River through Ferndown. Expect levels to continue to trend upwards over the next 36 hours. With the exception of a handful of properties in the Redbridge area of Bournemouth the impact is likely to be limited to flooding of fields and footpaths.

Following heavy rain over the holiday period the river levels in the Lower Stour have now started to respond. Low lying farm land close to the river will flood, and some minor roads and paths will also be affected. The flood peak will pass through Blandford by midnight, arriving at Wimborne in the early morning. The lower reaches towards Bournemouth and Christchurch will respond later on Thursday. We do not anticipate properties to be affected, however members of the public should remain vigilant.
