Widespread frontal rain has fallen overnight with some heavy showers forecast to follow throughout today.
River levels are rising and predicted to continue to rise in response to the rainfall.
High river levels and some out-of-bank conditions are expected throughout the catchment today. The Environment Agency has checked screens and channels to reduce the risk of flooding.
However particular locations at risk are the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough, the Norton Sub Hamdon to Stratton road and Parrett Works near Martock. The River Parrett downstream of Gawbridge is expected to overtop the right bank. Flooding is also expected to affect properties near Parrett Works if the river continues to rise.

Following the rain today, Tuesday 18/12/2018, levels on the River Parrett between South Perrott and Thorney have continued to rise. The level at Chiselborough is rising and has reached the level for Flood Warning for this stretch of river. It is likely to peak in the next few hours. The rain has generally passed out of the area.
Particular locations at risk are the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough, the Norton Sub Hamdon to Stratton road and Parrett Works near Martock. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the day and this message will be updated as the situation changes.
