Heavy, persistent and widespread rainfall is forecast from 4:00 pm on 01/04/2018, overnight and into Monday 02/04/2018. River levels on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester, River Parrett at Langport Westover and Cannington Brook at Cannington are falling following the rain earlier in the week but are expected to rise later this evening in response to the forecast rainfall. The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station is 6.76 m and is stable. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 7.27 m and is stable. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m.

The rainfall has generally passed out of the area and conditions are forecast to remain largely dry now for the next 24 hours. River levels on the River Yeo at Pen Mill and the River Yeo at Ilchester are dropping. The River Parrett at Langport Westover is stable. The river level of the Cannington Brook at Cannington is stable but remains high. The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station is 6.68 m and rising slowly. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 7.33 m and also rising slowly. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m.

Rainfall is forecast to continue through the rest of Friday evening and overnight until about midday on Saturday 31st March. River levels on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester, River Parrett at Langport Westover and Cannington Brook at Cannington are rising in response to this continuing rainfall. The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station is 5.56 m and is stable. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 6.01 m and is stable. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m.

The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station has been lowered to its normal winter level; with the pump running when needed. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station continues to fall as we pump water out of the moors and into the river. Some showers are due today. However river levels are stable and we expect to have pumped water out of the remaining moors to normal winter drain levels by tomorrow. We shall update this flood alert as soon as the situation changes.

The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station has been lowered to its normal winter level of 5.52 m; with the pump running when needed. The River Parrett level there is also falling. And likewise the drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is also falling, currently at 6.61 m. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m. Some further rain or showers (up to 5 mm) are due today. River levels are stable on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester and the Cannington Brook at Cannington. However this flood alert shall remain until the water is pumped out of the remaining moors around Midelney and Huish Episcopi, where we are currently operating our pumping stations. We shall update this flood alert as soon as the situation changes.

Heavy rain, at least 10 to 15 mm , is forecast overnight into Sunday. River levels are rising in response on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester, River Parrett at Langport Westover and the Cannington Brook at Cannington. We are pumping at Westover, Huish Episcopi, Long Load and Midelney pumping stations. Therefore the drain level is falling at Langport Westover pumping station, currently at 5.62 m. And likewise the drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is also falling, currently at 6.72 m. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m. And further bands of rain are expected into the new year. We shall update this message on Sunday morning or when the situation changes.
