Tides are rising towards a period of spring tides. In tide tables, these peak on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th of February. Values in tide tables for Sunday are not especially large, however, they are forecast to coincide with storm Ciara; this storm is expected to create strong winds, tidal surge and large waves. Particularly during Sunday impacts are expected around the coast. Please avoid coastal areas at high tide as there could be dangerous conditions: strong winds; sea spray; and wave overtopping at the most exposed locations. Wave overtopping can be dangerous and can contain debris. Although the forecast currently highlights Sunday, impacts are likely to continue during high tides into Monday and for the remainder of next week with the unsettled weather conditions expected to continue. Will we continue to monitor the situation and update this message as required.
