Whilst washland levels remain high and flooding is still affecting some properties, levels in Snaith Ings continue to slowly fall and the risk of additional property flooding has reduced. The bank at East Cowick is not spilling. Further rain is forecast in the upper catchments today which, combined with high tides peaking on Wednesday, could result in washland levels beginning to rise again. We are continuing our pumping operations to create capacity ahead of this rain. Our staff are on site in daylight hours and our incident room remains open. Please check routes before you travel. River Aire
Lower Aire washlands are still extremely full, and flooding continues to affect properties near the Ings. Rainfall last night, 29/02/20, did not cause further water to enter the washlands from the Aire. However it is keeping river levels high, slowing washland draining. Flood risk remains when washlands are high. Tides continue to fall until Thursday and are not expected significantly increase river levels. Scattered showers are forecast over the next few days, and we expect washlands to be able to begin to drain. Significant draining of washlands will only occur once river levels fall enough. We are working closely with our partners to plan our response. Our field teams are monitoring the situation in daylight hours and our incident room is open. To report property flooding, call 0800 80 70 60. This message will be updated by 17:30 on 01/03/2020 or if the situation changes. For road closures see https://bit.ly/3cbWhtH.

The washlands at Gowdall remain full and continue to overtop into Snaith Washland. We expect the Washlands here to continue to fill. Flooding is affecting properties located near the Ings, and has closed Selby Road towards Carlton (A1041). Further properties are likely to be at risk as the area fills. We are working closely with our partners to plan our response, including deploying sandbags to protect properties in George Street area. Whilst no further significant rainfall is expected today, the risk of flooding remains as rainwater travels from the higher reaches of the catchment, coupled with high tides.
