Flood Warning issued on 12 Feb 2020 11:48
English Channel, South Coast
The high tides have been creating large waves along the south coast, removing the shingle from Denge Beach. Our staff are currently undertaking work to place rock and shingle at Jury’s Gap following damage from Storm Ciara to reduce the risk of the defences failing. The Coastguard Cottages and Midrips Cottages, East of Jury’s Gap, are particularly at risk. Tides will be at their highest between 12pm and 3pm today. Flooding to properties and local roads is possible at these times, or if the defence breaches. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and partners. Please be careful along the beach, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous, and move family, pets and cars to safety. This message will be updated by 8pm on 12/02/2020.
