River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall during Thursday 3 December. Flooding of roads and low lying land is a possibility at any location near the river around Forest Row, Ashurst and Penshurst, and is expected between 11:00 pm on Thursday 3 December and Friday evening. Peak levels will be similar to the flooding on 16 November 2020. The internal flooding of properties is not expected at this point.
We expect river levels to drop slightly during Friday afternoon but may rise again over the weekend with more wet weather due on Saturday.

River Medway
River levels remain high as a result of heavy rainfall. Flooding of local roads and farmland is expected to continue overnight and into Wednesday morning, 18/12/19, particularly in rural areas around Hartfield, Ashurst and Penshurst. Further rainfall is forecast overnight on Wednesday and over the next few days into the weekend. As a result, we expect river levels to respond to further rainfall and remain high until at least Sunday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures and are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the local rivers. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected throughout today, 17/12/19, particularly around Hartfield and Ashhurst. Further rainfall is forecast from Wednesday evening into the weekend. We expect river levels to remain high until Saturday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures and are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the Medway. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Heavy rain is forecast overnight, causing river levels to rise on Tuesday 17 December 2019. This is likely to see a return of flooding of low lying roads and farmland similar to that seen last week. Flooding is expected from 01:00 on Tuesday 17 December. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
Unsettled conditions are likely to continue for the rest of the week, causing levels to remain high until the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures.

Levels remain high during Friday 13th of December but should begin to fall slowly this evening and continue to fall overnight. Isolated showers may occur during this period but are not expected to result in further increases in water levels. This message will be reviewed by 10am on Saturday the 14th of December.

River levels will continue to remain high during the morning of Friday 13 December, causing flooding to low lying land and roads. Flooding of property is not expected. The forecast is for dry conditions during daytime, before showers arrive Friday evening and continue throughout the weekend. This message will be updated by 16:00 Friday 13 December 2019.

River levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of low lying roads and farmland is expected between 23:00 on Thursday 12 December and 13:00 tomorrow, Friday 13 December 2019. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
Further rainfall is forecast later tonight with showery weather continuing through the weekend. We expect river levels to remain high until 13:00 Friday 13 December.
