Cuckmere River
River levels in Hellingly have fallen from their peak, but are still high. Friday and Saturday 7/3/2020 are forecast to be dry. River levels will continue to fall slowly, but until Saturday 7/3/2020 flood impacts will continue to affect properties and gardens on Church Lane and Station Road, as well as widespread water in fields. More rain is predicted Sunday morning and Monday afternoon 9/3/2020. The risk of flooding will increase again, dependant on the amount of rain we receive. Current predictions suggest river levels could return to similar heights seen Thursday 5/3/2020, but probably slightly lower. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding, such as the roads suggested in this message. We continue to monitor river levels and forecasts. Cuckmere River
The Cuckmere and Bull Rivers are rising steadily in response to 17mm of rainfall this morning. A further 8mm of rainfall is forecast before the end of the day. Flooding is expected from 16:30 along Mill Lane and Station Road and from 18:00 along Church Lane, 05/03/2020. Isolated properties on Mill Lane, Hellingly will be affected. Water is likely to flow across Station Road and Church Lane, Hellingly from the Bull River, towards properties along Church Road, with gardens also affected. Thursday evening and Friday will be relatively dry, so river levels should begin to fall in the area from 09:00 on Friday 06/03/2020. However, further rain is forecast into next week and so levels may rise and flood risk could return again. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding, including the roads suggested in this message. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. Cuckmere River
River levels are still high on the Cuckmere, but are now beginning to fall, after Storm Dennis's widespread heavy rain. Flood impacts will continue to affect fields, gardens, roads and isolated properties. Including on Station Road and Church Lane Hellingly. Please continue to take care in and around flood affected areas, flood water can contain hidden dangers. Rain has now cleared, and only isolated showers are expected until Thursday 20/2/2020. These showers are unlikely to cause river levels to rise significantly, if at all. River levels may not return to normal until Tuesday morning 18/2/2020. Plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 11:00 18/2/2020.

Cuckmere River
Water levels in the Cuckmere River are rising quickly following 30 mm of persistent rain today 16/02/2020. From 19:00 this evening 16/02/2020 isolated flooding impacts are expected to affect fields, rural roads and gardens. Mill Lane, Hellingly is likely to be impassable and water could affect Mill properties as well. Water is likely to flow across Station Road and Church Lane Hellingly from the Bull River with gardens also affected. Impacts will be similar to those experienced in the year 2013. Rain is expected tomorrow 17/02/2020 but is not expected to increase water levels. The river will peak by 04:00 tomorrow 17/02/2020, returning to normal by the afternoon. Some roads may become impassable, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. River levels are still high following Saturday’s rain. Flooding impacts will continue. Locations to be affected will include water flowing across Station Road and Church Lane in Hellingly, with gardens also affected. River levels have already peaked and are now falling. Sunday and Monday should stay largely dry, which should allow river levels to fall towards normal by Monday afternoon 23/12/2019. There remains a possibility of heavy showers on Tuesday 24/12/2019; we'll share more information over the coming days. River levels are still high following Friday’s heavy rain. More widespread rain is forecast from 17:00 today 21/12/2019, until 08:00 22/12/2019. Flooding is possible from 02:00 22/12/2019. Locations to be affected will include Mill properties on Mill Lane in Hellingly. Water is likely to flow across Station Road, and Church Lane Hellingly, from the Bull River towards properties along the road, with gardens also affected. River levels will peak by 17:00 22/12/2019 and then slowly fall. Sunday and Monday should stay largely dry, but rain is forecast for Tuesday (24/12/2019), which may cause river levels to rise again. Following nearly a month’s rainfall over the past week and 20mm Thursday night, river levels are still very high on the Cuckmere and Bull Rivers. Flood impacts will likely continue until Sunday 22/12/2019. Locations affected will include Mill properties on Mill Lane, Hellingly. Water is likely to flow across Station Road and Chuch Lane Hellingly from the Bull River, towards properties along the road, with gardens also affected too. A small amount of rain early Saturday morning will be followed by more widespread rain between 17:00 Saturday 21/12/2019 and 08:00 Sunday 22/12/2019. While river levels may fall slightly Friday night and Saturday morning, by Sunday (22/12/2019) river levels will likely return to heights similar to Friday, if not higher. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding, including the roads suggested in this message. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. Following nearly a month’s rainfall over the past week and 20mm Thursday night, river levels are high and rising on the Cuckmere and Bull Rivers. Flooding is expected from 06:30 20/12/2019. Locations to be affected will include Mill properties on Mill Lane, Hellingly. Water is likely to flow across Station Road and Chuch Lane Hellingly from the Bull River, towards properties along the road, with gardens also affected too. The widespread rain should clear from 09:00 20/12/2019, leaving a largely dry day Friday, apart from isolated showers. Widespread rain will return from 15:00 Saturday 21/12/2019. River levels will continue to rise until 19:00 20/12/2019, but further increases should be expected Saturday evening (21/12/2019) following the next band of rain.
