River levels are remaining high and responsive to further rainfall. Areas most at risk are along the River Mardyke between North Stifford and Purfleet. We are working hard to resolve an issue with the sluice which is restricting the river draining out to sea through the Mardyke Sluice as quickly as expected. The forecast is for a dry day for most of Monday, but persistent rainfall will arrive Monday evening, throughout the night and into Tuesday morning. Flood water is dangerous. This message has been issued because there is a possibility of some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas over the next few hours and into this evening, Tuesday 18th February. River levels are beginning to drop but will remain responsive to further rainfall. The forecast is for continued unsettled weather over the next couple of days but no significant rainfall expected. This message has been issued because there is a possibility of some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas from now until tomorrow morning, Tuesday 18th February. River levels are currently high, but are expected to start to drop back down to more normal levels later today and into tomorrow. The forecast is for conditions to remain dry and windy, with some showers through Tuesday 18th February, but these are not expected to be heavy. Rain is now starting to clear from the region, Sunday 16th February 2020, with only scattered showers forecast overnight into tomorrow. River levels are rising in response to recent rainfall.
