Severn Estuary
Storm Eunice is expected to bring severe gale force winds across the Bristol Channel early on Friday, coinciding with spring tides. We are expecting this to cause very large and powerful waves along the coast. Please avoid using coastal footpaths and roads. Forecast high water is 08:15 on 18/02/22 with a level of 7.43 mAOD and a Force 9 South Westerly wind. Conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Tmes are local and refer to the high water time at Avonmouth, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. We expect unsafe conditions from high wind and wave spray to affect the Severn Estuary from New Passage to the Severn View Industrial Park including low lying properties at New Passage and Shaft Road, Beach Road, Station Road and Riverside Park in Severn Beach. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our contractors have checked the current flood defence construction site and are on standby. We are liaising with emergency services and will update this message as the situation changes and new information is available.

Severn Estuary
Low pressure will cause sea levels to be higher than forecast in tide tables. First forecast high water is 20:45 on 11/03/20 with a level of 8.56 mAOD and a Force 6 South Westerly wind. Second forecast high water is 09:00 on 12/03/20 with a level of 8.49 mAOD and a Force 6 West South Westerly wind. Times are local and refer to high water time at Avonmouth. Flooding to roads and properties is possible at these times, but may apply two hours either side of the high tide. There is a possibility of flooding the Severn Estuary from New Passage to the Severn View Industrial Park including low lying properties at New Passage and Shaft Road, Beach Road, Station Road and Riverside Park in Severn Beach. Peak levels will be higher than this morning’s tide, 11/03/20. Our incident staff are checking defences and closing flood gates. Take care along beaches, promenades and roads as large waves can be dangerous. This message will be updated on 12/03/20.
