River Crane
Flooding is possible on the River Crane from 4pm today. A high tide of 4.5m is expected at Richmond at around 5pm today, Friday 6th December. Due to recent rainfall, levels are high on the River Crane, meaning the Crane Tidal Gates will not be able to close to hold back the incoming tide from the River Thames. As a result, the incoming tide will flow up the River Crane which, when combined with the fluvial flow already in the channel, will push water levels very high. Some flooding of gardens and low lying land is expected, although we do not expect any flooding to buildings. Any flooding is likely to be of short duration covering the period around high tide. Flooding is not expected on the next high tide, in the early hours of Saturday 7th December. This message will be updated by 10am tomorrow, Saturday 7th December, or as the situation changes.
