Some heavy scattered showers remain a small risk in the area this morning, Saturday 28 July before clearing around midday to leave a dry afternoon. The river will be sensitive to any further heavy rain especially in the Waltham Forest, Waltham Abbey, Waltham Cross, Barnet, Nazeing, Enfield, Chingford, Edmonton, Cheshunt or Tottenham areas where there is a possibility that rivers could quickly rise and overtop their banks. Flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside gardens is possible this morning. Surface water flooding may also occur. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. We continue to monitor rainfall and river levels. We expect to remove this flood alert around lunchtime, when the risk of flooding has passed.

River Lee, Ching Brook, Cobbins Brook, Nazeing Brook, Pymmes Brook, Salmons Brook, Turkey Brook, Small River Lee, Rags Brook, Trinity Marsh Ditch
Heavy rain is expected to fall across the London area during the day on Wednesday 9 August. The rainfall will contain some shorter duration heavy downpours. If the Waltham Forest, Waltham Abbey, Waltham Cross, Barnet, Nazeing, Enfield, Chingford, Edmonton, Cheshunt or Tottenham areas receive some of the heavier showers, there is the possibility that some rivers could overtop their banks. This may result in some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside gardens during Wednesday. Surface water, where it gathers and flows off roads, could also cause minor flooding and difficult driving conditions. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the area during Wednesday clearing debris from trash screens and responding to any reports of blockages. This message will be updated this evening or earlier if the situation changes.

Flood Alert issued on 24 Jul 2017 10:58
River Lee, Ching Brook, Cobbins Brook, Nazeing Brook, Pymmes Brook, Salmons Brook, Turkey Brook, Small River Lee, Rags Brook, Trinity Marsh Ditch
There are further heavy isolated showers forecast for today, Monday 24 July. Some of these showers could cause river levels to rise quickly but it is difficult to forecast exactly where the showers will occur as they will be very isolated. This also means that each shower will be short lived and some places may not see much rain at all. Some places may see more than 1 shower though which is what will impact river levels. There may also be standing water in roads and low lying land where the heaviest showers occur. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff on standby to attend to any blockages in the river that we become aware of. This message will be updated during the evening of Monday 24 July or sooner if the situation changes.

There have been some heavy showers over north London throughout the day on Saturday. River levels rose briefly but fell again when the showers passed. This message will be updated at 10am on Sunday 23 July or sooner if the situation changes.

River Lee, Ching Brook, Cobbins Brook, Nazeing Brook, Pymmes Brook, Salmons Brook, Turkey Brook, Small River Lee, Rags Brook, Trinity Marsh Ditch
This alert has been issued due to heavy isolated showers which may affect the London area throughout Saturday 22 July. Currently it is difficult to forecast exactly which locations will see the highest rainfall throughout the day. If the higher rainfall totals fall in the Waltham Forest, Waltham Abbey, Waltham Cross, Barnet, Nazeing, Enfield, Chingford, Edmonton, Cheshunt or Tottenham areas, there is the possibility that some rivers could overtop their banks. This may result in some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside gardens during Saturday afternoon and evening. There is also a possibility of road drains becoming overwhelmed by the volumes of rain water which is a separate issue to river levels. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for and clearing blockages where necessary. This message will be updated at 7pm today or earlier if the situation changes

This may result in some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside gardens on Tuesday evening. Surface water flooding in urban areas is also possible. River Lee, Ching Brook, Cobbins Brook, Nazeing Brook, Pymmes Brook, Salmons Brook, Turkey Brook, Small River Lee, Rags Brook, Trinity Marsh Ditch
This evening, Tuesday 11 July and overnight into the morning of Wednesday 12 July will see an area of widespread and potentially heavy rain move eastwards across London. The heaviest bursts of rain are expected in the early hours of Wednesday morning and may affect areas in Waltham Forest, Waltham Abbey, Waltham Cross, Barnet, Nazeing, Enfield, Chingford, Edmonton, Cheshunt or Tottenham. At times there may be intense bursts of rain which may cause river levels to rise rapidly and overtop banks in isolated places. Fast-responding watercourses are more at risk from these outbursts, and surface water flooding in urban areas is also possible. Flooding of some low-lying land and roads alongside the river channel is possible this evening and tonight, but we do not expect property flooding to occur. Please be aware of your conditions locally. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update on Wednesday morning or earlier if required.

River Lee, Ching Brook, Cobbins Brook, Nazeing Brook, Pymmes Brook, Salmons Brook, Turkey Brook, Small River Lee, Rags Brook, Trinity Marsh Ditch
This flood alert was issued based on forecast heavy rain. Today (Monday 10 July) we have seen less rainfall than the highest totals that were forecast. Though now with reduced threat, some small, but potentially locally heavy, showers remain possible overnight into Tuesday 11 July. These may cause river levels to rise rapidly and overtop banks in isolated places, particularly for fast-responding watercourses. Flooding of some low-lying land and roads alongside the river channel is possible but we do not expect property flooding to occur. Surface water flooding in urban areas is also possible. Please be aware of your conditions locally. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update on Tuesday morning.

This may result in some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside gardens on Monday afternoon. Surface water flooding in urban areas is also possible. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have had staff in the area clearing trash screens over the weekend and earlier today. This message will be updated Monday evening, or earlier if the situation changes.

Flood Alert issued on 6 Jul 2017 11:41
River Lee, Ching Brook, Cobbins Brook, Nazeing Brook, Pymmes Brook, Salmons Brook, Turkey Brook, Small River Lee, Rags Brook, Trinity Marsh Ditch
Overnight we have seen less rainfall than the highest totals that were forecast yesterday, as the predicted rain stayed to the south of London. This alert remains in force for the forecast risk of thunderstorms today (Thursday 6 July). Locally intense showers remain possible throughout today. These may cause river levels to rise rapidly and overtop banks in isolated places, particularly for fast-responding watercourses. Flooding of some low-lying land and roads alongside the river channel is possible but we do not expect property flooding to occur. Surface water flooding in urban areas is also possible. There is still some uncertainty in the locations of these thunderstorms and it is likely that some areas will see very little, if any, rainfall. Please be aware of your conditions locally, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update Thursday evening.
