This flood alert has been issued due to the high spring tides combined with large surge forecast for early Monday morning, 13th April 2020. There is the possibility for flooding of roads and low lying land near the coast between 4am and 6:30am tomorrow, 13th April 2020. Areas of concern include Royal Pier Road and the Promenade in Gravesend. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point, however we will continue to monitor the situation and issue further messages if necessary. Coastal conditions are forecast to improve following this tide and no further alerts are expected to be issued in the coming days. A large high tide is expected to affect the Thames Estuary this afternoon. Tides will be at their highest between approximately 12pm and 4pm today, Friday 29/11/2019. Flooding to footpaths, promenades and low lying land and roads near the estuary is possible at these times, but flooding of properties is not expected. No further tides of concern are forecast in the coming days, but we are closely monitoring the situation and will issue further messages if required. This flood alert is issued for the high tide at Sheerness at 1:30pm (13:30), Thursday 18th January. Strong westerly winds are forecast during a period of high tides combined with surge. Water levels are expected to overtop coastal defences and foreshores between approximately 1-2pm today. Expect tides to be higher than usual. Low lying areas near the coast will be at risk of flooding. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast. We do not currently expect that subsequent tides will reach alert threshold but will continue to monitor the situation. Property flooding is not expected, but we will issue flood warnings if required to do so. A tidal surge is forecast for the next high tides at Sheerness on Monday 6th November. An astronomical high tide of 3.22 metres above Ordnance Datum is expected at 01:30 at Sheerness. A positive surge of 0.31 metres may also be expected, giving a total water level of approximately 3.53 metres above Ordnance Datum. Wind direction is north westerly. Wind speed is forecast Gale Force 5. These levels are lower than those received during high tides at the beginning of October. Tidal flooding of low lying coastal areas may be expected from these tides. We do not expect flooding of property.
