River Mersey

A severe flood warning has been issued because of heavy and persistent rainfall resulting in rising river levels on the River Mersey at Didsbury today, on 20/02/2022. Consequently, there will be an increased risk of flooding to properties from the River Mersey this afternoon Sunday, 20/02/2022 and overnight into Monday, 21/02/2022. We will update this warning as the situation changes. Evacuation plans are in place for any residents who may need to move to keep themselves safe. If you believe that you are in immediate danger, please call 999. Anyone with urgent need for care and support should call the Council's Contact Centre on 0161 234 5001.

River Mersey

This is a precautionary flood warning due to rising river levels at Northenden on the River Mersey as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Flooding will possibly occur for properties in West Didsbury and Barlow Moor from 12:00pm, today 20/02/2022. Further heavy rainfall is forecast throughout the day. Our incident response staff are deployed, we are liaising with emergency services and local authorities and we will continue to monitor the situation and issue further warnings if necessary. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated as the situation changes.
