The Western Rother is high and rising. 35mm of rain has been recorded at Liss, in only a few hours on Thursday. Which is a lot in a short period of time. From 23:00 04/01/2024 flooding will affect properties on Mill Lane and Old Mill Lane, Sheet, and also on Station Road next to the railway line, in Liss. Flooding will be extensive through fields and affect rural roads and gardens. A further 5mm of rain is expected through the early hours of Friday. Very little rain is forecast Friday daytime through to next week. The river should begin to fall by 04:00 05/01/2024, but will be higher than normal until Friday evening. If you see a blockage affecting the flow in the river, please call our incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. River levels are still high on the Western Rother, but now beginning to fall, after widespread heavy rain from Storm Dennis. Flood impacts will continue to affect fields, gardens, and roads near Station Road, Liss, and Mill Lane, Sheet. We are no longer expecting properties to be affected. Please continue to take care in and around flood affected areas, flood water can contain hidden dangers. Rain has now cleared, and only isolated showers are expected until Thursday 20/2/2020. These showers are unlikely to cause river levels to rise significantly, if at all. River levels may not return to normal until Monday morning (17/2/2020). If you see a blockage affecting the river flow, please call our incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 10:00 on 17/2/2020.

Storm Dennis has brought 35 mm of rain so far, with a further 20 mm possible by 12:00 16/02/2020. Which is a significant amount in total, over half that normally falls in a whole month. River levels are rising and property flooding is expected from 08:00 16/02/2020. Impacts could be similar to Christmas 2013. Locations could include: Station Road, Liss, Mill Lane and Sheet. As well as water affecting fields, gardens, and roads, including Andlers Ash Road. Rain will ease Sunday afternoon. With only isolated showers through to midweek, river levels should begin to fall by early Monday morning 17/2/2020. The Western Rother continues to rise steadily after 30 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. This is the equivalent of over a third of the month’s rain, in only one day. A further 10 mm of rain is possible before mid-morning Wednesday 15/1/2020. Flooding is expected from 03:00 15/01/2020. Locations to be affected will include properties near Riverside Close on Station Road, Andlers Ash Road Liss, properties on Mill Lane, and Old Mill Lane Sheet. The widespread rain should clear by 12:00 15/1/2020, with dry weather expected until late afternoon on Thursday (16/1/2020). River levels will begin to fall by 17:00 15/1/2020, but may rise again as a result of further rain expected on Thursday and Friday (17/1/2020).
