Beaulieu
The Beaulieu River is high and rising and levels are increasing in the Mill Pond at Beaulieu. In the last 12 hours, 30mm of rain has been recorded in Brockenhurst, and this follows prolonged wet weather over the last few weeks. This evening’s high tide at Southampton is forecast at 17:00 and 18:10 on 16/02/2020. Tide levels are reasonably low, but given higher river flows into the pond, for 1 hour either side of high water, the river could come out of bank on the upstream side of the pond, flooding gardens and Hatchet Lane. Rain will clear the New Forest by 17:15 and by 19:00 this evening, levels should begin to fall. We will continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection, especially at Hatchet Lane where road flooding is likely to occur. Cars driving through the floodwater will increase flood impacts to vulnerable property in this location. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 12:00 on 17/02/2020.
