The water level in the Monktonmead Brook at St John's Station is high and rising. Heavy and intense rain has fallen, with 25 mm in 6 hours recorded at Ryde. This is a large amount in a short period of time. From 04:30 this morning (27/11/24), water will begin to flow across the railway tracks. Further heavy rain is expected to impact the area for at least the next 4 hours with an additional 10-15mm expected. The river will continue to rise until approximately 10:00. Before then, it is possible that we may issue a Flood Warning for impacts to the station depot buildings, and compounds located next to the railway line near Park Road. Our operational staff are keeping the Monktonmead Brook clear of blockages. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please consider moving vehicles from depots located next to the river and railway line. This Flood Alert will be updated by 15:00 on 27/11/24.

The water level in the Monktonmead Brook at St John's Station is high and rising. Heavy and intense rain has fallen with 20 mm in 4 hours recorded at Ryde. This is a large amount in a short period of time, falling on an already saturated catchment. From 17:00 this evening 04/01/24, water will begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station. Flooding of the station buildings or property is not expected. Please consider moving vehicles from depots located next to the river and railway line. The river is expected to peak by 21:00. Our operational staff are keeping the Monktonmead Brook clear of blockages. The weather is forecast to improve from the early hours of tomorrow morning, with very little rain forecast for the next 5 days. This will allow the river to return to normal seasonal levels. This Flood Alert will be updated by 15:00 Friday 05/01/24.

The water level in the Monktonmead Brook at St John's Station is high and rising. In the last 7 hours 15mm of rain has been recorded in Ryde. This is a modest amount but follows weeks of wet weather which is making the river much more responsive than normal. From 11:00 this morning (09/12/23) a small amount of water will impact the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station. Flooding of the station buildings or property is not currently expected. Rain, which will be heavy at times, will continue this morning but should clear the area by 12:00. The rest of the Saturday should remain dry. The river should peak by 13:00 but will remain high for several hours before it finally begins to fall. Our operational staff are keeping the Monktonmead Brook clear of blockages. We continue to monitor the forecast. This Flood Alert will be removed by 19:00 on Saturday 09/12/23.

The water level in the Monktonmead Brook at St John's Station is high and rising. In the last 6 hours 16mm of rain has been recorded in Ryde. This is only a small amount of rain, but is causing a larger rise in water level due to weeks of prolonged wet weather. From 18:30 this evening (07/12/23) water will begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station. Flooding of the station buildings or property is not currently expected. Rain has now cleared the area, and the river is expected to peak around 19:30 this evening (07/12/23). Our operational staff are keeping the Monktonmead Brook clear of blockages. We continue to monitor the forecast. This Flood Alert will be removed by 10:00 on Friday 08/12/23.

Water levels in the Monkton Mead have peaked and are slowly falling. Following the overnight rain where 31.65 mm was recorded at Ryde raingauge. This is a significant amount of rain in a short period of time. This morning there is a minor risk of flooding affecting low lying land. No property flooding is expected. More unsettled weather is forecast bringing further bands of rain to the Isle of Wight today (4/12/23) and tomorrow. A further 14mm of rain is possible over the next 24 hours although it is unlikely to cause significant impacts. We continue to monitor the forecast. Given that the situation should improve, we will remove this message by 16:00 today (04/12/23).

The water level in the Monktonmead Brook at St John's Station is high and rising. Heavy and intense rain has fallen with 32.87 mm in 24 hours recorded at Ryde. This is a large amount in a short period of time. The river is expected to peak around 06:30 this morning near to levels which may cause flooding to the railway station and depot buildings. From 04:00 this morning (04/12/24) water will begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station. Flooding of the station buildings is possible, we will continue to monitor. Further heavy rain is expected to impact the area until 03:00. We expect water levels to continue rising over the next 3.5 hours. Given the amount of rain which has affected the area, at 6:30 the river will peak and potentially be at the level to flood station depot buildings. We will keep the river free of reported blockages. The water level in the Monktonmead Brook is high and rising. In the last 24 hours, almost half a month’s rain (45mm) has been recorded at Ryde. From 00:30 tomorrow morning (21/10/21) water will begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station. Flooding of the station buildings or property is not expected. Further heavy rain (20 to 40mm) is forecast in the early hours of Thursday (21/10/21), which will cause the river to rise further. Water levels are unlikely to begin to fall until after 03:00 on 21/10/21. We will keep the river free of reported blockages. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please consider moving vehicles from depots located next to the river and railway line. This Flood Alert will be updated by 10:00 on Thursday 21/10/21 or sooner if we think that property flooding will occur.

Given the amount of rain which has affected the area, in the next 3 hours the river will flood station depot buildings. It could also flood industrial buildings and compounds which are located next to the railway line near Park Road. Further thundery showers are still possible. Water levels will remain very high for at least the next couple of hours and may continue to rise until at least 20:00 (25/07/2021). The water level in the Monktonmead Brook is high and rising. In the last 6 hours, more than a month's rain (50mm) has fallen at Ryde. This is an exceptional amount in a short period of time. From 04:00 this morning (29/06/2019), water will begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station. Flood water will be fairly deep. Rain continues to affect the area over the next 6 hours with a further 10mm expected. The river is likely to peak around 05:00. The water level in the Monktonmead Brook at St Johns is high and rising. In the last 9 hours, 20 mm of rain has been recorded at Ryde. This is a fairly large amount of rain in a short period of time. In the next hour, water may begin to flow across the railway tracks upstream of St Johns Station. Flooding of the station buildings or property is not expected. Further showers are expected from midday onwards, and they could continue for most of the afternoon. Saturday evening and Sunday (31/01/2021) should be fairly dry. Water levels in the Monktonmead Brook are high and slowly rising. Storm Bella has resulted in heavy rain (18 mm in 6 hours recorded at Ryde) to fall over an already saturated catchment. Upstream of St Johns Station, water could already be flowing across the railway tracks. This could affect the operation of the railway network, however flooding to station buildings is not anticipated. Further showers are expected to impact the area over the next 3 hours.
