This alert remains in force. River Levels are peaking around Haxted Mill and will rise a little more in the River Eden in Edenbridge peaking around lunchtime today, Thursday 19th. Overnight rainfall was heavier than forecast, especially in the west of the county, consequently river levels will remain high and fall through Thursday evening.
Tonight the forecast is for heavy pulses of rain over night Thursday 19th and Friday 20th. River levels are expected to rise from early on Friday morning.

Further rainfall is expected over night tonight into the early hours of Thursday 19.12.19, causing river levels to rise once more. This is likely to see a return of flooding of low lying roads and farmland close to the river, particularly in the Haxted Mill and Edenbridge areas. Flooding is possible from 04:00 tomorrow morning, Thursday 19.12.19. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this stage.
Unsettled conditions are likely to continue for the rest of the week, causing levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures.

Pulses of heavy rainfall are forecast over the next 4 days, we are therefore closely monitoring the situation as the catchments are saturated. Members of the public should avoid flooded footpaths and plan routes to avoid flooded roads in this area. We are liaising with emergency services and checking the river to clear blockages and debris. Flooding of local roads and farmland is expected to continue overnight and into Wednesday morning, 18/12/19, particularly in rural areas around Edenbridge and Penshurst. Further rainfall is forecast overnight on Wednesday and over the next few days into the weekend. As a result, we expect river levels to respond to further rainfall and remain high until at least Sunday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures and are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the rivers. Significant rainfall is forecast on the evening of Monday 16 December. This is likely to result in flooding of low lying roads and land in the Eden catchment, particularly between Lingfield and Edenbridge.
Flooding is possible from 01:00 on Tuesday 17 December and is likely to continue for the rest of the day. The forecast is for unsettled conditions to continue for the week and so flood conditions are possible until the weekend.
We do not expect flooding of property at this stage. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures.
