Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected from 8:00 am today, 25/12/21, in the Bethersden, Smarden and Headcorn areas. The peak levels in these locations will be seen between 8:00 am and 3:00pm today. The Hunton and Yalding areas may not be affected at this stage. The internal flooding of property is not expected. Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected between 5:30pm and tomorrow morning in the Smarden, Headcorn and Hunton areas. The flooding of property is not expected. The peak conditions will occur overnight. Any flooding in Yalding will probably be localised and of low impact. Levels along the Beult valley will be comparable to that observed last weekend. The River Beult has responded to further rainfall overnight and will remain high and fast flowing during the day, Friday 4 December. Conditions are comparable to Monday 16 November. The peak should register at Smarden around late morning, at Headcorn around mid afternoon and at Yalding late evening. We do not anticipate issuing a Flood Warning for property along the majority of the Beult but we are watching the rate of rise in Yalding, as a Flood Warning is an outside possibility. River levels are expected to rise as a result of heavy rainfall during Thursday 3 December. Flooding of roads and low lying land is a possibility at any location near the river around Bethersden, Smarden, Headcorn and Yalding, and this is expected between 11:00 pm on Thursday 3 December and Friday evening. Peak levels will be similar to the flooding on 16 November 2020 and will not reach Yalding until Friday evening. The internal flooding of properties is not expected at this point. We currently expect river levels to stabilise overnight into Friday but may rise again over the weekend with more wet weather due on Saturday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are clearing trash screens and checking on river structures. Please take care near the river and on flooded roads. Levels on the River Beult should continue to fall overnight between Smarden and Staplehurst. Further minor increases are predicted between Chainhurst and Yalding during Monday evening but should fall overnight into Tuesday 17 November. No significant rainfall is forecast and flooding of property is not expected. This message will be updated by 10am on Tuesday at 17 November, or as the situation changes.

River levels have now peaked at Smarden but continue to rise between Staplehurst and Yalding. The risk of flooding to low lying land and roads will remain throughout Monday 16 November. No further significant rain is currently forecast and we do not expect flooding of property at this stage. This message will be updated by 8pm on Monday 16 November, or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall. Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected from 6:45pm today Sunday 15 November. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads close to the river, particularly in the Staplehurst area. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Further rainfall showers are forecast over the next 4 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if required. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers.
