River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Wigan Flood Alleviation Scheme Coppull Lane river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall associated with Storm Dennis which has now cleared the area. Consequently, the risk of flooding is reducing. Low lying land as roads in Horwich, Adlington, Wigan, Appley Bridge and Skelmersdale. High river levels are possible on the River Douglas, Pearl Brook, River Tawd, Eller Brook and their tributaries. The risk of flooding from Storm Dennis has now reduced. No further significant rainfall is expected. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. We anticipate that this flood alert will be removed later today.

Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is expected/possible between 05:00 and 10:00 today, 16/02/20. Areas at risk are low lying land as roads in Horwich, Adlington, Wigan, Appley Bridge and Skelmersdale. High river levels are possible on the River Douglas, Pearl Brook, River Tawd, Eller Brook and their tributaries. We expect river levels to remain high until 10:00 on 16/02/20. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.
