The rivers are reacting to the rain and are forecast to rise through Friday evening, overnight and into Saturday morning. Properties and low lying areas may be affected during this time. Environment Agency officers are out checking defences and watercourse, and will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the evening and overnight. People are advised to keep up to date with the situation by listening to local radio and checking gov.uk. People should also avoid and be prepared for flooding overnight or during Saturday morning. This message will be updated as the situation changes.

Heavy rain is expected overnight and tomorrow morning, rivers may respond quickly

Upper River Lune
Heavy and persistent rain is expected across parts of Northern England on Wednesday before gradually easing during Wednesday night. Heavy rain will gradually clear eastwards during the early hours of Thursday morning. There remains some uncertainty with regards to the exact location of the heaviest rain. Heavy rain will be accompanied by strong winds across many parts of the county. River levels have risen slightly through today but will rise again this evening as further rain falls. River levels are expected to peak later on Thursday morning. We will continue to monitor the situation.

River levels are rising following heavy rain overnight and this morning. Further rain is expected to continue until 16:00 hours this afternoon before clearing and river levels are expected to be high until this evening. Localised flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible. Environment Agency duty officers are monitoring rainfall, river and lake levels closely.
