The rivers are reacting to the rain and are forecast to rise over the next few hours. Properties and low lying areas may be affected during this time. Environment Agency officers are out checking defences and watercourse, and will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the evening and overnight. People are advised to keep up to date with the situation by listening to local radio and checking gov.uk. People should also avoid and be prepared for flooding during Saturday morning. The rivers are reacting to the rain and are forecast to rise through Friday evening, overnight and into Saturday morning. Properties and low lying areas may be affected during this time. Rainfall from overnight and this morning will cause river levels to reach flood alert level from around 08:00am. River levels are expected to fall again later this morning. Properties and low lying areas will be affected from around 08:00am. River levels will be at their highest between 08:00am and 12:00pm. Garstang Basin is not expected to be operated. Remain safe, monitor your local weather conditions and be aware of your local surroundings. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the day and this message will be updated as the situation changes.

Upper River Wyre
River levels remain high following yesterday’s heavy rainfall. The Garstang and Catterall flood basins have been operated and will be emptied throughout the course of the day. We are continuing to pump flood water from affected communities and Environment Agency staff will be in the area over the coming days. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Heavy rain and strong winds are expected across parts of Lancashire on Wednesday evening before gradually easing overnight. The rain will clear eastwards during the early hours of Thursday morning. There remains some uncertainty with regards to the exact location of the heaviest rain. River levels have risen slightly throughout today and will rise again this evening as further rain falls. River levels are expected to peak later on Thursday morning. We will continue to monitor the situation.

River levels are expected to peak in the Upper Wyre catchment on Wednesday 25th October at 4am . We do not expect river levels to exceed flood alert level and therefore we are not expecting to issue a flood warning in this area
