This Alert is for the high tide on the Lune Estuary at 22:45 tonight, Saturday 4th November. The main area of concern is Sunderland Point. People are advised to put in any flood resilience measures and take additional care next to the coast and stay away from low lying land, roads and promenades. No significant wave action is expected however high water levels can be expected 1 hour before and after the peak of the high tide. Environment Agency officers have closed the tidal gates at Lancaster Quay as a precautionary measure. We will continue to monitor the situation and an update will be issued if the situation changes. It is possible a further Flood Alert may be issued tomorrow at a similar time for the overnight tide. Detailed tidal information for those who use it; The forecast high tide level is 5.6 mAOD.

Southerly winds exceeding gale force 8 and 9 will impact the Lancashire coastline from midday on Monday 16th October until the early hours of the 17th October. In exposed coastal areas winds may gust to 70MPH or above. This tidal surge does not coincide with the 10pm high tide. Please take extra care in high winds and avoid exposed coastal areas. Please follow any instructions from the emergency services. The high tides will be in force at 10pm on Monday 16th October and 1030am on Tuesday 17th October.
