Levels on the Tidal River Trent are high in response to heavy rainfall, high tides and tidal surge. As a result, properties and low lying areas around Girton and North Scarle will start to flood at the high tide today around 2PM. River levels will be at their highest today between 1 PM and 3 PM. High water levels can be expected 1 hour before and after the peak of the high tide We urge residents to take action and remain vigilant as the situation might change. Further flooding is expected at subsequent high tides. Avoid walking or driving through flood water. Pack a flood kit in case you need to leave home. Check on your neighbours, they may need help. We are closely monitoring the situation. We have teams on the ground checking defences, clearing channels and operating structures. We will endeavour to update this message by Thursday evening or as the situation changes.
