Heavy rain has fallen in the Covenham St Marys catchment. This is causing the Poulton Drain to rise and it is forecast to continue to rise through the day. Low lying areas near to river are already flooded and we now expect properties on Main Street in Covenham St-Mary to be affected first. Further heavy rainfall is forecast until lunchtime of Monday, January 6, and therefore river levels are likely to continue to rise. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the emergency services and council.
