This means that the South Forty Foot Drain is now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river during Sunday. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties is likely and therefore a flood warning has been issued for Isolated properties and villages near the South Forty Foot Drain and its tributaries. We are constantly monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. The heavy and persistent rainfall from the last two days has now passed over the area. Only light showers are forecast to fall tonight and into Wednesday 16 October. Watercourses in the area remain high, and will continue to flood nearby low lying land and roads over the next few days. This means the river is now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river overnight and through Tuesday April 3rd. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties is not likely and therefore flood warnings are not expected to be issued at this stage.
