High levels of rainfall have been recorded at the Chatteris rain gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall yesterday and overnight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible. We expect flooding to affect Middle Level, including Pondersbridge, Ramsey St Marys, Benwick and Welney. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow afternoon, 25/12/20, or as the situation changes.

This message has been issued due to the heavy rain experienced over the last 24 hours in Whittlesey, March and Chatteris. This means that the ground is saturated and responsive to further rainfall in this area.
The forecast is for further light rain this afternoon. We are expecting tomorrow, Thursday 28th December to become drier.
Locations most at risk are Middle Level in the Fens . The Environment Agency are monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for and clearing blockages.
Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. Do not walk or drive through flood water.
