River levels are slowly falling but remain high at the Welney Causeway river gauge following last week’s rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today, Tuesday 08/03/2022. We expect flooding to affect the A1101 Wash Road at Welney. No further rainfall is forecast. We expect river levels to continue to fall slowly throughout today, Tuesday 08/03/22. This information is correct as of 15:40 on Tuesday 08 March. The causeway at Welney has approximately 1 centimetre of water on the road. Due to uneven surface of the roads, water may be deeper in places. The Environment Agency are liaising with Norfolk Highways, who will decide whether to close the road. This alert applies to WELNEY CAUSEWAY ONLY. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Throughout the evening and overnight we expect levels to rise further. Due to uneven surface of the roads, water may be deeper in places. There are currently no issues on the Earith Causeway.
